2017 Year in Review

2017 Year in Review

As we reflect on 2017, we are overjoyed and thankful for all the blessings we have received. So much has happened since Matt started Grandfather Homes in 2006 from his Plaza Midwood bungalow. We hope you enjoy looking back on these memories, as we enjoyed creating them (Dec 20, 2017):

JANUARY – Chris, Jessica, Tammy, and Erin traveled to Orlando for the NAHB’s International Builder’s Show. The team listened to some of the building industry’s best lecturers, explored new products, and networked with construction professionals.

FEBRUARY – The Duet Home Tour at The Fountains at Mattie Rose was the first opportunity for guests to explore a completed duet home. The Alpha Unit served as an example of our urban duet finish level while reservations were released for The Towers at Mattie Rose.

MARCH – Plans were announced for a new pocket community in Cotswold, The Gardens at Mattie Rose. Four homes, inspired by the New England countryside, were planned to feature stately courtyard entry gardens with angular stone, boxed hedges, and anchoring horn beams. Jim and Rachel anticipate to complete the community in the next few months; these homes will be released for sale in early 2018.

APRIL Bob, Shannon, and Anna were crazy busy as paperwork piled up during this record month of closings! The entire team commemorated Grandfather Homes’ 11th birthday by attending Queen’s Cup.

MAY Wine Wednesday was held to educate realtors and potential buyers on our simplified approach that makes building dream homes an enjoyable process. Special thanks to Donna Schermerhorn with TD Bank for sharing insight on construction to perm loans.

JUNE – One of our Luxury Estate Series homes, The French Normandy, went under contract. This particular homeowner holds a special place in our hearts, as it is their second Grandfather Homes estate! To further customize the home, we expanded the outdoor living area by connecting the side veranda to the rear yard, which created space for a 10-person dining area, pool, spa, built-in grill station, and lounge.

JULY The Charlotte Business Journal, The Charlotte Observer, and The Charlotte Agenda announced our involvement at Cramer’s Pond. Matt had been working alongside the developer for months to ensure the authenticity and history of the neighborhood would be honored. See the inspiration for Cramer’s Pond.

AUGUST Jason completed our second custom build on Anthony Circle. Shortly after, photos of the incredible home were released to the public and the response was overwhelming (a record breaking 3,000+ likes on Instagram alone – check out the flythru video!). One home remains on Anthony Circle – The Castle Combe is offered at $1.275M and will be completed in January.

SEPTEMBER Matt and Jeremy completed framing on eight of the eighteen duet homes at The Towers at Mattie Rose. Missy organized Hard Hat Tours with live music, giveaways, corn hole, Legion Brewing, and Roaming Fork Food Truck. Check out the event photos on our Facebook page. Many thanks to JELD-WEN Windows & Doors, Ferguson, Insight, Tammy Coulter Design, Fairway of the Carolinas, DHL Mortgage, QC Exclusive, and Huber Engineered Woods for sponsoring the event.

OCTOBER – Bruin hit the ground running at The Townes at Mattie Rose. Three out of four homes had gone under contract before the foundation stage! Lot 2 remains with suggested plans starting at $1.4M. Framing began at Arborway Manor, our latest Luxury Estate Series home designed by Greg Perry Design.

NOVEMBER – Charlotte Magazine named Matt the “Face of Custom Home Building” in the Faces of Charlotte issue. Their endorsement had us smiling ear to ear: “…Grandfather Homes continuously creates innovative yet timeless projects with distinctive design and attention to detail. Their dedication and craftsmanship is unparalleled in the realm of Charlotte custom homebuilding.” Our team had a lot to be thankful for – Friendsgiving commenced at The Greywell in Providence Downs South.

DECEMBER –  Le Pirouette was selected as a Toys for Tots fundraising location for Cheval’s Holiday House Tour. Over the course of three weekends and one special night of giving, over $4,000 and 700 toys were donated to the cause.

Thank you for making 2017 one of our best years yet. We are looking forward to what 2018 will hold!
