Charlotte Homebuilder Breaks Ground On Elizabeth Community

Charlotte homebuilder Grandfather Homes recently broke ground on its 18-unit duet and triet community in Elizabeth.

Called The Towers at Mattie Rose, the project sits on the former site of the Charlotte Fire Department operations facility off Beaumont Avenue. Duets and triets will include two or three individually-owned homes in a single structure, a design similar to a townhouse but with limited shared walls, Grandfather Homes says. The first units are expected to deliver in August 2017.

At The Towers at Mattie Rose, Grandfather Homes will also introduce a concept that has been used for decades in the Netherlands called the woonerf. It’s a traffic-calming method used in residential areas to enable cars and residents to share the roadway. The private drive will be made of permeable pavers, which encourages drivers to use caution while promoting recreation among residents…”
