“A local homebuilder plans to bring a European-inspired concept to its newest residential community.
Charlotte-based Grandfather Homes is spearheading a development featuring a combination of duet and triet homes. Called The Towers at Mattie Rose, the development off Beaumont Road in Elizabeth will feature a “woonerf,” a word with Dutch origins that translates to “living yard.”
A woonerf is a street shared between pedestrians and vehicles and is designed to slow down traffic without speed humps, traffic lights or stop signs…”
